Best for detailed corrections and questions with a bit of context.
Mail and in-person visits by appointment. Whether you are local or testing a connection from another city, the inbox reaches us the same way.
Messages that arrive overnight or on the weekend are read the next working morning.
Before you write
If you are asking about a reading, it helps to include what you measured, the connection type, whether you were on Wi-Fi or wired, and roughly what you expected. Sometimes that is enough for us to point you to the right page immediately.
Send a message
Use this form for questions about speed test results, corrections to our guides, or general feedback. We read every message and reply by email during office hours.
What to put in your message
A few details turn a vague question into an answer you can act on. Share what you can, skip what you cannot.
-
A
The numbers you saw
Download, upload, latency, and any jitter or packet loss the test reported. Screenshots are welcome, but typed numbers are easier to read.
-
B
How you were connected
Wi-Fi or Ethernet, fiber, cable, or cellular, and roughly how far you were from the router. Each of those changes how a reading should be read.
-
C
What you expected instead
The plan tier you pay for, or the speed the same room used to deliver. That gives us a reference point for whether something actually changed.
-
D
What you already tried
Moving closer to the router, restarting the modem, running the test at a different time of day. It saves us suggesting something you have already ruled out.
How we handle inquiries
Every message gets read by a person. What we cannot do is tell you that a specific reading is right or wrong without knowing your connection, your equipment, and what the network was doing at that moment.
So we aim at the part we can answer. If your numbers look off, we will usually explain what the pattern often means, what to test next, and which of our pages covers that step in more detail. If you are reporting a factual error in a guide or glossary entry, we check it against the sources we rely on and, where we got it wrong, correct the page.
We do not act as an internet service provider, we do not sell plans or upsell equipment, and we do not run remote diagnostics on anyone's network from this office. What we can offer is a clear reading of the results you already have.
The Brooklyn office
We are on Clarendon Rd in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn. Most of what we do happens by email and phone, so please arrange a visit in advance rather than dropping by — the office is small and the door is not always staffed.
If you are writing in about a speed test issue and you happen to live nearby, mention it. A local connection sometimes tells us things a remote question cannot.

Common questions before you write
These come up often enough that they are worth answering here rather than in a reply.
Can you tell me why my speed test result is low?
Sometimes. A low number has many possible causes — Wi-Fi coverage, a busy hour on the network, an old router, a device that cannot keep up with the plan, or a wired problem that a wireless test will never show. Tell us the reading, how you were connected, and what you tried, and we will point you at the checks most likely to explain it.
Do you offer a paid consultation or a home visit?
No. We are a reference resource, not an ISP or a repair service. We can help you understand a result and decide what to test next, but for line faults, installation problems, or equipment swaps you will want your provider.
How quickly do you reply?
We aim to answer within one working day. Corrections to a published page sometimes take longer, because we verify them against sources before changing anything. Messages sent on weekends are read on the next weekday.
Can I suggest a guide topic or a correction?
Yes, and it is welcome. If a page confuses you, say which sentence sent you looking something up. Corrections are easiest when you describe the problem rather than just flagging it, and topic suggestions are more useful when you say what you were trying to do.
What should I do if my speed test result is inconsistent?
Run the test a few times across an hour rather than once, and note whether the pattern is a steady range or sudden drops. Mixed results usually come from one of four places: the wireless signal, local congestion, the device running the test, or congestion upstream. The troubleshooting guide walks through them in order.
Still stuck on a reading?
Send the details and we will help you make sense of it. If it is a simple question, the phone is faster.
